Although our main mission here at F.O.B. Clothing is to make sure you look as fly as freakin physically possible, we also take pride in our involvement in the community. Over the past few months of our brief existence, we've met many amazing people in the community whose missions are nothing short of inspiring! This segment of Fresh On The Blog will shed light on one such inspiring figure.
As a mentor of mine, I'm proud to give the spotlight to my dear friend James Higgins and his team of Lowell's finest talents: Flying Orb Production!
A fixture in the cultural revolution of this beautiful city of mills, Jim and the FOP crew has been making the city proud with some of the most innovative film technique around. His beautifully dark, atmospheric 45 mins film, Nether World, shot with a 35mm still camera, earned him and his crew numerous awards from film festivals -- ALL OVER THE WORLD!!
Aside from the film world, he's been a wonderful figure within the Lowell Khmer community. As a filmmaker, his pieces are often somber, thematic expressions of pressure, alienation, belonging, hope; Subtle, yet empathetic commentaries on the first and second generation Khmer experience (Transition is no smooth sailing). And all the while providing Khmer talents the rare venue to showcase their God(or Buddha for the religious conscious) given ability.
On April 15th, Mr. Higgins will be showcasing his work at the Khmer New year celebration event "Gotta Have It: Performance", at the 119 Gallery located in Lowell, Massachusetts. From F.O.B to F.O.P....KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, GUYS!!
